Sen. Obama tells everyone what they want to hear but provides absolutely no information how he plans to pay for the programs and cuts if he is elected
While the Canadian system isn’t perfect (what system is?), and while bank failures have happened, the fact is that Canada’s approach to banking has made it sound, safe, and forward thinking.
The Europeans have always been in the lead when it comes to adopting the kind of green technology that includes the latest wind farm techniques. Not to be outdone, we’ve kept pace here in Canada.
This is a political/economic cartoon.
I realize that anytime the government stares down and tries to “break” a union strike there are going to be some strong opinions on both sides. So at the risk of offending people here are my thoughts on the current Canada Post situation.
As an investor in General Motors in the middle part of the last decade, I watched in anticipation as the company announced plans to come out with an all electric car. Hippies everywhere rejoiced, anxious to drive a car that would minimize their footprint on the environment. They probably celebrated by eating some granola and wearing something made of hemp.
With summer upon as and gas prices reaching their usual summer heights, I find it interesting to hear people talk about how gas is at all time highs. If measured in absolute dollars then people are obviously right.
Most investors didn’t notice when, in September 2008, Warren Buffet paid $230 million for a 10% stake in Hong Kong-based battery maker BYD Co. Ltd. (HKSE:1211.HK).
Now, of course, we all wish we’d been paying attention…
In the 18 months since, BYD share price has increased by upwards of 300%, from $8.01 before the announcement to $28.15 today. And the value of the investing icon’s portion of shares increased to ~$640 million.
As you can see from the infographic below, the federal debt in Canada grows by $57.8 million each day. That's a lot of money, and it can start to add up.
Rising gas prices make us pay more at the pump, but they also affect us in ways you’ve never considered.
