We know that the federal deficit is ballooning at a rather scary pace. However, the growing debt that we see is only a part of the picture. There is probably more debt to come as we work to get out of our financial mess, and as the government deals with the burdens placed upon it.
Last night Obama addressed the nation in what I was hoping for was a change in direction. Instead we got was a deeper commitment to attack profitable businesses, with new regulations, taxes, wage controls and penalties, while expanding the government to try and replace there role in the economy.
It seems like complaining has become part of American past time, despite the fact that we live in the richest nation in the world.
Will Obama's policies help the economy? The reality is that Obama is likely unable to do much of real impact for the economy while partisan bickering continues as each side tries to sink the either instead of attending to the people's business.
After November's encouraging picture of improvement for the jobs market, December proved a disappointing setback. Even though the national unemployment rate remained unchanged, 43 states and the District of Columbia saw over-the-month job loss, with an increase in the unemployment rate.
