It is probably safe to say that most of North America is accustomed to living in 2600 square feet homes with just a family of two. Or even 4000+ square feet homes with a family of four. As I go apartment hunting I start to wonder how much is too small, and how much is “just enough” space for me?
So much of the time, when we think of retirement, we think mainly about the financial aspect. However, it’s also important to consider your lifestyle goals and choices.
Ever sit next to someone on an airplane that you’d love to send hurtling to the ground miles below?
Believe it or not, there is job where people are paid to do just that. There is a downside, though. You have to strap yourself to the person and jump out of the plane with them. The good news is that you get paid for each passenger launched out of the plane, and you are given a canopy to slow your fall.
Now that you’ve finished your course requirements, graduated, and have set off on your first post-college job search, it’s time to consider your finances while living on your own. In the midst of the graduation excitement and ideas of absolute freedom as you set off to chart your own course in life, it’s easy to lose sight of the necessity to keep your finances in check.
When you are moving into university there are a few options you can take:
Move into a single apartment
Moving in with friends
Moving in with nearby family
Moving into residence
If you live close enough, just stay at home.
Each one has its pros and cons and I will go into a few points for each of them.
Sustainable living is not always easy but is growing in popularity as a lifestyle that balances the desire to have modern conveniences while maintaining a respectful stewardship of limited natural resources. As a family grows so does the need for the many products involved in raising a child. Sustainable living with a growing family is a challenge that offers many rewards.
I have to admit to being completely biased to living rurally. Both of us here at My University Money grew up in rural Manitoba and we chose to live rurally after we were finished with university. I love the small town feeling of security and friendliness that I have never experienced in an urban center.
