Photopea Review

Photopea is an advanced image editor that is capable of handling both raster and vector graphics, making it a suitable replacement for popular programs such as Photoshop, GIMP and Sketch. Photopea can perform complex as well as straightforward procedures ranging from website designs to illustrations creation, photo processing and more.

This software supports many formats, such as PSD (Photoshop’s layer-supporting format), PNG, JPEG and BMP. In addition, it can convert bitmap images to vector graphics which makes this an invaluable resource for designers looking to transform PDFs or logos into scalable vector graphics. Plus its clear and intuitive user interface makes learning how to use it easy – without needing a manual as guidance!

As with all free software, this program does have some restrictions; however, as an image editing program with comprehensive image tools and features it remains an excellent choice. Easy to use and an ideal alternative to expensive desktop design programs.

This program boasts an excellent selection of brushes, and can even import custom ABR files. Additionally, there is an abundance of brush options such as tip dynamics and color dynamics as well as Scatter for random results. Furthermore, effects like blurring and sharpening as well as gradients, patterns, textures can all be applied, creating gradients gradients patterns textures – as well as multiple selection tools like Pencil and Clone Stamp for convenient use.

In addition to its standard toolbar, this program features a Browse button which opens a window with your configured drives and online storage services, making it simple and quick to find and select photos from folders or drives. Plus it’s internet accessible across desktops, laptops and mobile devices and compatible with most browsers!

It has a similar interface to Photoshop, making it simple for those familiar with that program to quickly get up-and-running. Many of its tools and features — layers, masks, channels, paths, selections, smart objects filters and text layers — are present as well as keyboard shortcuts for convenience.

Some may miss Photoshop’s art history brushes and select subject function, but overall Photopea is an excellent free alternative that offers some layout formatting capabilities missing in its more robust counterpart.

Photopea is a progressive web app, making it accessible to anyone with an internet connection and modern browser. While its free version contains advertisements on the side, its scope and convenience make up for them without the need for installation or setup. Plus, premium subscription is more cost-effective compared to Adobe Creative Suite or subscription-based design software and you can cancel anytime – there are even tiered membership levels which remove ads while providing additional features like unlimited undos and better file size limits!
