Sophos Home Review – A Review of the Sophos Home Security Suite

Sophos Home

Sophos Home brings the same business-grade protection used by IT professionals into private households, offering antivirus, anti-ransomware, anti-phishing and web filtering to keep computers clean while safeguarding banking transactions and shopping transactions online – and is even backed by a company which was honored with an MRG Effitas certificate for banking protection, an honor only given by some cybersecurity programs.

Sophos stands out from its competition by providing mobile security for iOS and Android devices, complete with Intercept X app designed to scan files and folders on PC, Web Filtering features that protect you against harmful websites, and a Web Protection service which offers full web filtering protection – an impressive array of protection for all. However, existing antivirus software should remain an important safeguard on devices – Sophos should not replace it!

Installation is straightforward. Simply download the 292MB installer, run through its quick installation process, scan for vulnerabilities and begin protecting your system automatically. No payment information needs to be entered at this stage; but creating a Sophos account is required; premium accounts offer live chat support from 8am-8pm ET daily along with additional self-serve options on Sophos’ website.

Sophos’ antivirus excelled during our tests, detecting all viruses and malware we encountered while providing adequate system protection at an acceptable speed. Unfortunately, it did not rank at the top of our chart for overall performance compared with some of its rivals; its false positive rate wasn’t as low; moreover, more malware than expected made its way past Sophos during testing.

Sophos Home stands out as an impressive feature by protecting PC and Mac from malware and phishing on other systems in your network, such as PCs belonging to other family members without needing passwords or installing software on each one. Unfortunately, however, it was not suitable for monitoring devices attacked with ransomware, nor did it include essential extra features typically offered with other home cybersecurity suites, such as password managers or virtual private networks.

Sophos Home is an excellent option for anyone who’s seeking an easy-to-use security program that protects multiple devices at the same time, offering remote management of software settings and offering protection at a reasonable price. Although not the most powerful tool on our top charts, Sophos Home makes security simple for multiple users with remote management capability and allows remote software management of software settings. Although not the most feature-rich option out there, its ease of use and reasonable pricing make this an excellent option. If you prefer something with more features than Bitdefender Home Premium or Trend Micro Total Security offer superior overall experiences and better malware detection than Sophos; take a look at our reviews of other popular products to see what other solutions might exist for yourself!
